Sling is babycarrier
I have to admit, i’m usually lost (okla, totally *blur* actually haha) in the forum. If you are new to babywearing (BW), or not so indulged in BW concept , you might be confused with different types of babycarrier existed. And before we go any further and explode our brain trying to associate the name to the type of each babycarrier, i’m gonna get this one straight:
SLING {equals to} baby carrier .
Sling is not necessarily referring to a RING SLING. Here’re pics of mr.Daddy carrying newborn & 3 month old Sarah in a ring sling. #1
[pics] I think the baby positioning was quite weird —tak reti huhu. i’ll learn how to use it properly next meet up *insyaallah* and make mr.Daddy wear the ring sling again *ahaks*. But yeah - fyi that’s a ring sling for sure because it has a ring-like buckle to adjust the sling. ringggg slingggg. :)
#2 While showing-off displaying the Tonga i have to the ladies at the previous meet up someone asked me “Wow, this is different. Is it a POUCH?” i was like “Err, it’s Tonga sling, yeah” aiyo bodo punya answer i know i know i was so ignorant with the NAME of each TYPE of babycarrier. It was simply Tonga sling to me, because it IS a sling (sling equals to babycarrier remember?) and Tonga has an adjustable type so i’m not sure whether it can still be called a pouch?? Because a pouch is a fitted sling, am i correct? *Blarrghh*.
[pics] (Left) - a local-made pouch i tried at Babyjaya when Sarah was 6 months old - didn’t remember what brand it was. (Right) - I’m carrying Sarah for 4-hours in Tonga sling (in this case it’s obvious it’s a pouch because it’s fitted and ‘fitted’ means mr.Daddy can’t wear it sorry) at MidV recently. mr.Daddy didn’t follow us around and I’m no expert in handling the stroller up&down the escalator, so Tonga helped me carry Sarah around ;)
Next one, #3 two shoulder carrying. This is fancy. In BW, there are MEI-TAI (MT) and SOFT STRUCTURED CARRIER (SSC). Very stylish to wear the Mei-Tai with a tank top or something light like that coz it’s hot hot hot here in Malaysia! But ladies in MBW(mostly covering the aurah *alhamdullillah* thus tank tops are rare here hehe) succeded wearing it fuss-free *clap*clap* while enjoying our tropical hot climate *”Merdeka!”-kata Sarah*. So Mei-Tai must be great and i admit wearing Aida a.k.a. mommyadam’s DIY’s Mei-Tai was very comfortable indeed. But I’m eyeing some SSC (waiting Joanne’s finalizing her Littlepods’ prototype ;) ) which may come in handy someday and mr.Daddy can wear it too - and less fancy (less tying up here & there) thus more masculine i guess for him to use!
[pics] At the previous meet up experimenting: (L-R) Mommyadam’s MT, Kozy MT (elly ada! woohoo!), Joanne’s Littlepods SSC prototype.
Last but not least- #4 WRAP. 5 meter of cloth you wrap around you and your LO (little one), ala bekung gitu. I’m gonna ask somebody to wrap me&Sarah at the next gathering (elly please spare your time for us heh heh). No experience what so ever with wrap. If you’re interested - Watch this hunk daddy wrapping and probably you wanna try THE wrap too like i do *wink*wink* ;)
So that’s it! Summary of babywearing options by me. Oh, btw, eventhough SLING {equals to} baby carrier….you can still carry your LO (i’m learning internet jargons now i’m so yesterday huh) up to toddlerhood even carry your pre-schooler if your shoulder still can handle it lah…… ;D
Happy babywearing everyone! (But don’t throw away your stroller please! *ahaks*)
(if you still feel my summary a bit confusing / *hanging* here n there - check out this doula’s review. It’s short, but compact. Good one! :) )
